How to switch your group from Splitwise to yallacome (keep your balances)

Splitwise is great at tracking who owes what — but the plan (who's coming, when, where) lives somewhere else entirely, usually a WhatsApp thread. yallacome keeps the event, the RSVPs, the reminders, the photos andthe cost-split in one place. The only thing stopping most groups from switching is the balances they've built up. So we made those come with you.

What carries over

Your group's net balances — exactly who owes whom, and how much. We read the final totals from your Splitwise export and recreate them as opening balances in yallacome. We don't import individual line items or their descriptions, so nothing private comes along — just the numbers that matter.

How the import works (about 30 seconds)

1. Export from Splitwise. Open the group → Export as spreadsheet → download the CSV.
2. Open your group in yallacome → Import from Splitwise (the group owner or an admin does this).
3. Upload the CSV. We read each person's net balance from it.
4. Match names. Splitwise display names get matched to your group members — we auto-suggest, you confirm. Anyone with a balance who isn't in the group yet just needs to be added first.
5. Review & add. You'll see the resulting "who owes whom" (simplified to the fewest transfers) and a check that it nets to zero. One tap commits it.

Is it safe?

Yes. The balances were already agreed in Splitwise, so we add them directly and notify everyone(in-app and by email) of their new starting balance — no surprises. It's stored as a single "Opening balances (from Splitwise)" entry, so if anything looks off, the admin can delete it and redo the import. And only an owner or admin can run it.
